It is saddening to read about Stewart Webster and other Critical Access Hospitals in Georgia having to close due to inadequate fiscal support
from the state and federal government. Many more deaths will occur and other sick people will worsen in their health with the closings. From 1997 until end of 2004 I drove within the State of Georgia and provided consultation to these hospitals. Granted they all are less than 30 beds but the service provided to the community was immmeasurable just as the examples given in the article on closing SWH. The local communities and the State need to create better service delivery models for its populace. Good luck to those local people, both employees and future patients, and may God answer some prayers for continued health access within reasonable distances. Most sincerely, Peggy Pettit
